Magnitogorsk - sister city since 1989

The steel city of Magnitogorsk is located in the southern Urals. In 1929 construction of the town began on both banks of the Ural river. The first steel was produced here as early as 1930. The first blast furnace was built in 56, the second in 16 days and the third blast in just 5 days, a pace unique in the world at the time. Even today, the steel from Magnitogorsk goes to 7,000 national establishments and 40 countries.Magnitogorsk has its own theatre, houses of culture, its own circus, a sports stadium, an educational institute and a metal institution.The activities of this town twinning are concentrated mainly in the areas of youth sport and culture.
