Of the approximately 2.5 million enterprises in Germany around 4,000 are large companies. 99.7% of the companies are SMEs. Business-related disadvantages will be offset by SME-funding.
Industrial promotion
Assisted area status under the Joint Agreement for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures:
Investment promotion in the federal province of Brandenburg focuses from 2006 on growth industries, so-called "branch competence" at key branch locations. The aim is to strengthen existing structures and promote networking between actors within the industries.
The promotion includes three modules:
- Base support
15% of all eligible firms (for eligible investments in specified areas of industrial expertise)
- Potential assistance
15% of SMEs (investments to € 2.5 million)
Up to 15% (for non-SME or investments over € 2.5 million) result from the calculation of aggregates for structural effects of investing
- SME supplement
20% SME award for small businesses
10% SME award for medium-sized enterprises
For the focus location of Brandenburg an der Havel competencies identified were in the following industries:
- Automotive
- Plastics / chemistry
- Logistics
- Metal production, working and processing
- Rail transport
- Media/information and communications technology
The industrial competency "geo-information industry" was assigned to the industrial competency field of media / ICT in the notices of the State of Brandenburg, 27 January 2009 under the directive of the Ministry of Economic Affairs for funding under the Joint Agreement for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures.
