Song Fachhochschule Brandenburg
For the first time in its more than 1,000 years of history the city of Brandenburg an der Havel has become a university town with the establishment of the Fachhochschule Brandenburg (FHB) (Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences) in April 1992. It began with the fields of economics and technology. The FH campus with renovated old buildings and newly constructed buildings was completed on the site of the former cuirassier barracks in the military suburb of Brandenburg in 1997. In 2000 the university received a new structure with the creation of the new computer science and media department.
More than 2,000 young people study in modern laboratories and classrooms in a park-like campus. The curriculum is constantly evolving, such as with the dual building systems degree program for example. Courses with an international degree (Bachelor or Master) are being increasingly offered, such as photonics, computing and media.
Project-oriented studies are particularly appreciated by the students of the FHB. The topics are defined together with partners in industry, commerce, trades and management in the region. In this way students gain the opportunity to learn practical aspects of possible future areas of work in advance.
The university particularly promotes international exchanges in teaching, research and studies. The Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences has partnerships with universities in Europe and overseas.
