St. Catherine's is the parish church of the New Town, considered one of the greatest masterpieces of North German brick architecture, dedicated to St. Catherine and St. Amalberga. In place of a stone church torn down in 1395, the largest church in the city appeared by 1401, by the Stettin architect Hinrich Brunsberg. Also noticeable are the dimensions of the sacred building, the height of the roof ridge is 38m and 72.5m of the tower on the outer walls is dominated by a rare richness of open-worked tracery rosettes and figurative ornament. Particularly impressive: the so-called Schöpp (provost) chapel on the south side with rich ornamentation. The church is rich in important works of art and interior furnishings. Worth seeing are the large winged altar from 1474, the altar in the Schöpp (provost) chapel, the octagonal bronze font from 1440, as well as the rich figural decoration in the niches of the gabled sides.
