Fritze Bollmann - the best known true Brandenburger

A fountain in the main street of the popular downtown pedestrian zone is a memorial to Fritze Bollmann, the most famous original Brandenburger. Born in 1852 in the vicinity of Magdeburg, he lived from 1875 in the Brandenburg old town. Legend has it that the drinking and choleric barber fell into the Beetzsee while fishing and drowned. As an obituary to the Brandenburg original there is a satirical children's song, also well known nationally. You can read the eight verses on the edge of the pool of the well designed in 1924 by the Brandenburg sculptor Carl Lühnsdorf.
